Suisman
Urban Design
After 100 years of growing domination by the automobile, we know our
cities cannot sustain themselves on 20th century growth patterns.
Suisman Urban Design has fifteen years of experience helping cities,
transit agencies and communities find better ways to foster urban
mobility. Their projects range from regional transit planning
to
award-winning designs for transit lines, stations, and furnishings.
They
help design rail, bus, automotive, bike and pedestrian systems which do
more than simply move people: they help foster the social, economic,
and cultural vitality of the places people want to go.

Eco-Center
@ Wilshire/La Brea
Suisman
Urban Design has prepared site planning and architectural concepts for
a proposed mixed used "Eco-Center" in central Los Angeles. The center
embodies many of today's best sustainable "green design" practices. The
design supports mass transit with a new public plaza linked to the
Wilshire Metro Rapid bus station. New retail serves transit riders and
residents. An existing building is renovated, and a new retail
structure incorporates solar panels and a menu of sustainable building
materials.

As a fully licensed architecture firm, Suisman Urban Design places
architecture at the center of urban design. Buildings alone do not
create vibrant cities, but architecture can create a powerful and
permanent framework for urban vitality. We stress the integration of
architecture with its natural and man-made setting. Our work is
contemporary, but responsive to its context. They treat each
architectural project as a contribution not only to the city's evolving
built form, but to its healthy relationship with the natural
environment.
