Never afraid of controversy during her 40 year career, Germaine Greer has famously stated that “new houses are now universally horrible, and eco-houses are the most horrible of the lot”.
Germaine will elaborate on and defend this view in a debate hosted by the Good Homes Alliance (GHA) at EcoBuild on 4th March.
While many of the eco homes currently being built are innovative and stylish in their design, the buildings as a whole have not entirely managed to shake off their ‘ugly’ stigma. At the debate, a panel of leading sustainability experts including David Orr, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation and architect Bill Dunster, will discuss the issues of integration and architectural innovation to counter Greer’s “most horrible” claims.
This BBC Question Time style panel debate will be introduced by GHA Vice Chairman, Pete Halsall, who is also MD of leading eco-developer BioRegional Quintain. It will feature the following guest panellists:
